Heavenward

The tops of the trees tell a story,

Reach for the skies look around,

The heart like a flower unfurling,

Life coming forth from the ground,

Origins within muck and miry,

Heavenly promises abound,

Angels celestial and fiery,

Sing praises of glorious sound,

Attend to the One who is Holy,

None other may wear His crown,

Little children dancing on Sunday,

Bright faced in white linen gowns,

Their laughter as clouds on a stairway,

Ascending to heaven resounds,

Look now at the spiritual armies,

Arrayed on this world’s battleground,

Mankind a spirit in a body,

Godly sparks in a fleshy surround,

Created as a universe entirely,

Each being a life most profound,

Death this life’s final unwinding,

Spirit and this body unwound,

Shedding our mortal encasing,

No more to dire gravity bound,

Farewell world of our suffering,

We rise up to eternity new-found,

Done with the pain of our falling,

Full-speed we are heavenly-bound.
